Yoga nidra literally means ‘yogic sleep’. During yoga nidra, your consciousness is between waking and sleeping which is a state you normally only reach in deep sleep. One 30-minute session is equivalent to about 2 to 4 hours of sleep. That is why you feel refreshed and deeply rested after yoga nidra.
